Cristiano Guarana

Professor Guarana has joined the Kelley School of Business as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. He earned his PhD (Management) in 2015 from the University of Washington and worked as post-doctoral researcher at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business for two years. Professor Guarana’s research examines how leaders and followers’ limited attentional resources affects decisions, relationships, and behaviors in complex organizational contexts. His specific research interests include cognitive biases, ambivalence, sleep, and job engagement. His research has been published in many scholarly journals including Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Management, Psychological Science, and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and his work has been mentioned by several mainstream outlets including Fortune, Harvard Business Review, Huffington Post, and The Atlantic. His scholarship and teaching have received many recognitions including Best Student Paper by the MOC Division of the Academy of Management, and Outstanding Teaching Award by the Dean of Foster School of Business. Professor Guarana enjoys teaching action-based leadership and organizational behavior classes. Prior to entering academia, Professor Guarana was an entrepreneur and played professional basketball in Brazil. He loves spending time with his family and watching sports.
