Bio

Marc is one of the world's leading entrepreneurship scholars with over 15 years of experience researching and shaping the field. He is a three-time recipient of the "Thought Leader" Award by the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management, and has received numerous other awards for his research and teaching. Marc combines his research expertise with first-hand experience in entrepreneurship as a start-up veteran and frequent consultant to entrepreneurs.

Since 2013 Marc has acted as Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) - the highest ranked empirical research journal in the management domain - where he handles manuscripts on innovation & entrepreneurship.

Marc joined EPFL in the fall of 2005 from the Munich School of Management, where he was Vice-Director of the Institute of Innovation Research, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship and Managing Director of the university's Center for Entrepreneurship.

Marc received a Ph.D. in management from the University of St. Gallen in 2000, and a venia legendi from the Munich School of Management in 2005 for his habilitation thesis on marketing in new ventures. He currently holds the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization (ENTC) at the EPFL College of Management.

Sur la scène universitaire internationale Marc joue un de premiers rôles dans le domaine de l’entrepreneuriat et ce grâce à ses 15 ans de recherche et de maîtrise du domaine. Il a reçu à trois reprises le prix de « Thought leader » décernés par le département Entrepreneuriat de l’Académie de Management et a été de nombreuses fois récompensé pour ses recherches et ses enseignements. Marc allie son expérience d’entrepreneur chevronné avec son contact permanent avec les entrepreneurs d’aujourd’hui.

Depuis 2013, Marc est rédacteur en chef adjoint du « Academy of Management Journal », premier journal de recherche dans le domaine du Management. Il est en charge de la partie Innovation & Entrepreneuriat.

Marc a rejoint les équipes de l’EPFL à la rentrée 2005 après avoir quitté sa place de vice-président de l’Institut d’innovation, management de la technologie et d’entrepreneuriat de l’école de management de Munich. Il était également directeur général du centre d’entrepreneuriat de l’université.

En 2000, Marc a reçu son doctorat de l’université de St Gall et un venia legendi de l’université de Munich en 2005 pour sa thèse sur le marketing dans le cadre de nouvelles entreprises. Il est actuellement responsable de la chaire d’entrepreneuriat et de commercialisation de la technologie au sein du collège de management de l’EPFL.
