Research interests in global &amp; international health, health systems &amp; transition in health, double burden of communicable &amp; non-communicable diseases, malaria, TB, HIV, diabetes, and their interactions and impact, including long-term on mother &amp; child health in particular. <br> <br>Specialist in tropical medicine and in infectious diseases. <br> <br>Supervised &gt; 50 ph.d.s and &gt; 100 masters students, mostly from low- and middle-income countries. Capacity building &amp; research collaboration with Tanzania since 1992 and with India since 2002. Running courses and teaching in global &amp; international health and tropical medicine at pre- &amp; postgraduate level in Copenhagen and abroad. Board member, World Diabetes Foundation. Founder of Masters in International Health, MIH, and of Masters in Global Health, University of Copenhagen. <br>
