Capstone Project Lectures Part 2

In week 2 of the Capstone project you will learn from Mr. Moses L. George of VMware on the details of Cloud Computing, VMs (Virtual Machines), ESX Layers, and vCenter Server Appliances. In addition, you will learn about installation methods of the ESXi, how to import vCenter Server Appliances, how to configure vCenter Server Appliances, how to start a vSphere Web Client, how to create a VM on a vSphere Web Client, and how to access and use VMs on a Smartphone. The last lecture is on additional advanced Network Virtualization technologies. Through these lectures you will obtain practical knowledge of how to setup a VM on a local device and how to access the VM through your smartphone. This knowledge will enable endless capabilities and functions to be installed and used on your smartphones and local computers.

So now you see that there's a iso file.

Not this one.

This one.

VMware-VMvisor, this is what we downloaded.

This may look a little different from what you have.

I have 55u3, version 55u3, I just downloaded that but

you could go ahead use 60u1, that you saw or

official latest version that you find at the time you are looking at this video.

So now, all you have to do is go to Fusion.

So, if you are on Mac you should have installed VMFusion trial version by now,

or you would have installed VMware Workstation.

Now go here and let's do a new virtual machine.

You're gonna see, install from disk or image.

And you're gonna click on this.

And select the VMvisor, ISO that you just downloaded.

Say Continue, and say Finish.

It's gonna ask for a name, you can just choose a name.

Say Save.

And there it is, the virtual machine.

You will have to turn it on.

Now, this is starting up, and you click inside and press Enter for

the standard installer.

Now if you notice, once you've clicked inside that window, you mouse disappear.

Because it's now used by this virtual machine, if you want to bring it out of

it, and use it on your desktop, you had to press Ctrl+Alt.

And you get your mouse back.

On the Mac, you press Cmd+Ctrl.

So it'll bring it back.

So now it's in the virtual machine's context.

Now you press Cmd+Ctrl, it comes out.

So now it installed vu65, 55u3 which was what I got.

For you, it could be 60u1.

Just let it go through.

So, this is gonna take some time.

Instead, we could actually go and

see the virtual machine that I already have deployed.

Right here.

And if you wanna send any, function key, you can send it from here.

Send key, there are all these function keys,

you can send caps lock, anything into the virtual machine.

For this to see the screen we do F2, that shows here.

So as you see, you have this F2,

you see it says F2 is for customized system,

you can press function key and F2 and it can go in here.

And for a new VM it'll ask you to set up the password.

Here I have already set up the password.

And in here you can configure the network, manage the network.

For the IP configuration, you can make it dynamic or static.

If you want to use a static IP, just come here, click on this and can change it.

I have just kept it as dynamic.

And you would want to have the network adaptor bridged,

just so it will get the IP from your router.

You'll be able to reach this IP easily.

So do that, so you change the network adapter to bridged.

You come here, look at your configured managed network to see if

you want to set a static IP or anything like that.

If not, you come here to this.

Exit.

And then you have the IP here and the ESX is ready.

So this is your ESX machine running on your laptop.

So is supposed to be a hardware, ESX server hardware that's supposed to be

running on the data center is running on your laptop as a virtual machine.

And.

I'm just showing the actual installation of the ESX.

So it's asking for an F11 key, so you can go here and say, Send Key>F11.

And here you'll need to press Enter, say Use Default.

You can set a root password which is what I have already done on

my other ESX machine.

Okay, so we let that install, we'll come back to it.

So now we have this ESX machine that I had already installed and

this one that is installing right now.

Let's close them both, let's minimize them both.

We want to install the Virtual Center right now.

Now that is a little different in the way you install.
