The combination of Java and python is sometimes a bit confusing. Maybe it would be better to split the course in a java and a python version so all the Beam concepts are taught in a single language.

Thanks for designing such a wonderful course outline. I learned valuabe BigQuery and Cloud Dataflow concepts. Best part was to learn how to write data pipelines and execute on cloud using Dataflow.

The default version of the "six"package, in the installation scripts, is not compatible with "apache_beam". I had to modify the installation scripts to run the Python labs with the version 1.10.0 of package "six".

Good intro to Big Query, would have loved to see an example case study on a capstone project

Great videos, but all the Python codelabs don't work, there is some error regarding metadata occurring when trying to execute python files in Cloud Shell.

This course gave good examples of how to tie together several cloud services to produce a real time data pipeline.

I wish python had equal emphasis to java.

concept of cloud function (lambda function in aws), should have be covered a bit more details.

Also some more examples in terms of scaling the application should have been covered other wise its a Five star.

While the course content was very informative, there was not enough about the Google Cloud Data Engineering certification exam - specifically, what material would or would not be on it. In fact the certification was not even mentioned. Some mention would be helpful, given that's the primary reason most folks are taking this course.

I was also a bit nonplussed by the way all of the code is just handed to you, so that the labs end up being "run this," "run that," "use this script to run this other thing." While I appreciate these services are complex and teaching students to write them from scratch would be time-consuming, there really must be a better way to do this than simply handing over huge chunks of code and saying, "Run this one command to make it all magically happen." The reason this was necessary was, all the scripts had lots of hacks and gotchas and handling of things that could go wrong - that's a sign the Google Cloud Platform needs some smoothing out. What happens when "certified" data engineers who have no idea what's going on manage to pass the certification, and get into a job, and are totally lost? (Answer: It's going to greatly de-value the certification.)

This definitely felt like a no-coding-skills-required course, and from some of the discussions going on on the discussion boards, it seems like there are a sizeable number of students in that category.

Nice. A bit more serious than the last two. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for the course. I wish the last 3 labs about dataflow were using python code and not java. In general all the material about dataflow is the hardest so far in this specialisation. Not easy to grasp for a person with limited coding skills.

Good Intro to google's big query and dataflow.

Assignments were codelabs that can be found in Google's codelabs site

The labs were much easier to do in the previous two courses.

Bigquery has been great, but difficult to understand how to use Dataflow.

Dataflows could need a separate course, but splitting totally between python and java. Not easy the merge.

Good Material but the environment and examples are a little buggy in the labs.

Good course, although it would be great to have more materials on Apache Beam programming model and Dataflow pipelines monitoring.

The course was informational and interesting to follow! I would like to see the videos polished so that they were a little smoother in presenting information and remove slow/erroneous sections.

Good overview, but very Java-centric in the later parts; whilst I could follow the intuition, for anyone who isn't familiar with Java's syntax it's easy to become quite lost.

Very good, would have given 5 stars, but missed Python demos for the last 2 labs (side-inputs and streaming). Keen to revisit when Python demos are included, as the API for side-inputs is different between Python and Java, pvalue and whatnot...

Good explanation on and lots of (SQL, Java and Python) code examples for BigQuery and Dataflow. Unfortunately, the course material is not available for download and the labs are too repetitive (setting up the basics every time before you can actually start).
