So dear friends now you know what the traditional scroll looks like, but the scrolls that we have demonstrated to you were made especially for decoration of somebody's dwelling, so that everyone entering the room would admire the art of a calligrapher ,would enjoy the beauty of the characters. But originally, of course the scrolls, the traditional scrolls were made for putting down the information. So the traditional scrolls were the books, but not merrily the books, because in the ancient times the books were written only about the things that must be kept in time. So that all the succeeding generations would know something very important that was written in this book. So, it was the meaning of preserving the information, preserving the pearls of the wisdom. That's why the things that were put on the paper, that were written on the paper were originally very special things even sacred things. And the paper with inscription, the paper with some characters written on it was regarded as a sacred object. And the attitude towards this paper must be very special. So the paper must be respected. The paper must be very highly revered and disrespect to the paper with an inscription, the disrespect to the paper with some characters on it was the very heavy sin in special departments of the Chinese inferno. The people who showed disrespect for the paper with characters were very severely punished. So what's the proper way of the conduct towards the paper with characters on was regarded. This paper was to be burned in a special oven in the traditional Chinese temple and only this was the proper conduct with the paper with characters. So, no wonder that the reading as well as writing was a sort of a ritual that must be properly prepared and properly carried out. First of all, you have to burn some incense, you're first going to prepare the actual room for reading service burning incense and you have to lit a candle and then to put a special screen in front of this candle. First of all, it helped you to read without having this black spot in your eye, because of the candle light. Secondly, it prevented the sparks flying on the paper and burning it. So, a special screen, the incense and you open the book or you start to write something. So, the books were also a very, very special item also that have to be conducted with reverence and also play a very special role in a life of a person. A book was regarded a treasure and only very special people could have books and could read books. So, the art of reading and writing was also very highly respected. A traditional book looked like this. This is a replica of the real ancient book, but done in the very way it was done many years and even centuries before. So, here we see the special buttons made of bones. We unbutton them and open this cover. So this cover is made of the very thick paper with a cloth glued on it and inside we see the books themselves. So traditionally, each book represented in this way had to be done from one scroll of a paper. So these long, long, long scroll was folded and then sewed and reproduced in this way of a book. The book is read from up to down and from left to right so it is opened from this part. Here we go. This book is one of the most prominent books about the Taoist immortality technique which is called, I mean the book is called and was written by. So, here you can see how it was done. So, the pages themselves that's just this paper folded you can see in here. And the script, the script was printed from the big printing boards. So, all these characters were to be engraved on this board and no wonder that several parts of this book could be written in different styles like here. So, here we see the characters that are written absolutely differently from this part of the book for instance. And understandably so, because a master who engraved those characters on the board, they differed. One was doing this boards, the other one was doing here doing those boards. And here we go, here, of course in this book. This for instance its embraces already 12 scrolls, 12 drone, while originally again, they were done one book one scroll. So, after reading all this, after meditating with the book which gave a scholar, which gave an educated person and absolutely unparalleled pleasure with this fragrance with his burning incense the book was put in the cover again and buttoned-up. Those traditional books may have pictures, those traditional books may be written in different calligraphic styles. So, this style, this calligraphic style we see here it is the sum variant of shoe style. So, this kind of script became popular in the 11th century and since then, it has been broadly used in the traditional Chinese books. So, the traditional Chinese book.
