In this lecture, we will briefly go through
the different pathways of restoring dental implants.
We start with the most simple case, the single gap.
Usually one implant is placed,
then it is restored with one single crown.
A partial gap, with two or more teeth,
is usually restored with at least
two implants or more, depending
on the size of the gap.
If necessary, a cantilever can be used.
It is not possible to place
two implants in a smaller gap.
One solution could be to only place
one implant and make a small bridge
with a small cantilever.
Implants and teeth can be combined
into one reconstruction, although this
is usually not the first choice of treatment.
In a whole arch case, a full bridge is done
with or without cantilevers or
a removable denture supported
by retaining elements.
