[MUSIC] Another definition of the word sense, a direction represents a universally recognized skill in leadership, vision. Vision is the characteristic that was one of the most cited in your exercise about the most inspiring leaders, remember? Vision means a clear direction that gives people something to focus on and push toward, a common set of goals that values and mobilizes their energy. Vision provides a sense of purpose. It is something that everyone needs. Like a boat needs a course that it keeps heading, or that it can change depending on the direction. Think about the many decisions you have to make in the course of your life, personal and professional. The moves you make for example by choosing a university, a field of study, or by getting married, moving to a new apartment, or changing job or country. All those decisions change the course and the directions you take in your life. Giving a direction to your life is a key element in your decision making, and therefore in your leadership skills. Now think about the last decision you made that drove a change of direction in your life. What is it? And can you explain in what ways it corresponds to the long term vision you have for your life? The vision that gives you a sense of purpose. Leaders must define a sense of purpose that carries meaning for their actions. This sense of purpose is like a guide, who takes you on an expedition across complex and difficult path. It must be embodied by the leaders embarking on the trail and by the people who follow along with them. The expedition will succeed if the relationships that are built between the members of the group are strong, trustworthy, and focused on a shared goal in spite of and thanks to the changes and differences embodied by each member. The vision is the shared direction that people are moving toward. Your friend Oriane, from the leadership certificate, will share with you what sense of purpose she had when creating the Chicago musical, and how this sense of direction, this vision, has made her project a reality. >> So how did this sense of direction make my project a reality? Well, I think that seeing as I really wanted everyone to trust each other and to create an atmosphere of trust to the point where everyone could offer ideas and have their ideas accepted and included in the show. I think this has really what directed our whole way of thinking. And as a result, at the end of it, I really felt like instead of there being only one artistic director, there were about 30. All the people, all the actors, all the dancers on stage had each. Pushed in their own little elements so the show was completely theirs. They weren't just actors in the show, they were makers of the show, and that's how I think our whole project was envisioned. >> This definition fo the word sense, the direction, vision, reminds us that leadership, even in a collaborative setting, needs a driver, a guide. Are you this guide? Our next exercise will help you get closer to answering this question. The savoir relier approach restores the value of our senses as a cognitive function that gives direct access to knowledge and data. Sensing delivers information at its source and connects us to the real world of touch, sight and hearing. When you are capable of assimilating all of the sources of knowledge. The quality of your understanding of situations and events is much more acute. We're better able to combine knowledge and experience when we are more alert and mindful. Our senses are decisive factors in the way we manage and make decisions. With a greater awareness of our senses, and the data they provide. You can now translate your experiences, your appreciation of the environment, your confidence and your courage into effective action. Miss Oriane. >> [FOREIGN] >> Savior relier trained me to perform this translation. Transforming sensibility and sensitivity into a source of confidence for taking action in difficult and complex situations. Now you must be ready to move to the next step. The second pillar of savoir relier protocol, one that I particularly appreciated, the conversation. You'll see it's a true moment of epiphany. So be prepared.
