接下来我想跟大家分享一个我整个的单元 Now I'd like to share with you a whole unit of my course. 这个单元的题目是university The unit's title is "University", 是针对本科生的 and it is undergraduate-oriented. 这门课的相对应的慕课是生活英语读写 This Course's corresponding MOOC is "Everyday English Reading and Learning". 它是大学一年级学生 It's the first lesson for freshman students 进大学以后的第一节课 after they're admitted to university. 教学目标是学会描述表达讨论大学生活 The instructional goal is teaching students how to describe and discuss university life. 首先我们来看一下课堂上的样子 Let's first take a look at one of the classes. 大家注意到了我没有站在讲台上 As you can see, I'm not standing at the rostrum. 我站在学生那块黑板前 I'm standing in front of the blackboard near the students. 而我的学生是分成四个小组 My students are divided into four groups, 围着圆桌坐的 each group is sitting around a round table. 大家看到第二张图片时候会发现 If you look at the second picture, you'll notice 老师根本不在镜头里头 that the teacher isn't in the picture at all. 在这样一个班上 In a class like this, 学生是站着在电脑上查资源 some students stand there looking up information on a computer. 另外一个同学在黑板上写 Another student is writing down the content of their speech draft 他们的准备发言稿 on the blackboard. 所以说大家可以看到 As you can see, 我称为我的课堂是 my class is like this: 老师在讲老师的学生在玩学生的 the teacher is lecturing while students are doing their own things. 大家看我的第一张PPT Let's take a look at my first PowerPoint slide. 我首先备课时候准备学生 When I prepare for lessons, I collect my students' information. 左边第一个同学是美院的学生 The first student on the left is an art school student. 她比较喜欢唱歌 She likes singing. 她的一个特点就是她喜欢表现 One of her traits is that she likes to let herself shine. 她上课需要发言 She needs an opportunity to speak 需要展示才华的机会 and show off her talents in class. 第二组同学比较安静 The second group of students are relatively quiet. 是计算机系的学生 They're students from the Department of Computer Science and Technology 这是我们清华强军计划的两个学生 and are enrolled in the Tsinghua University's army reinforcement program. 他们喜欢自己编程 They like coding. 所以说他们的课程作业完成的是 So their homework was to make a self-learning plan 用词汇做一个自适应学习计划 in their own words. 第三组同学是我们的国际留学生 The third group of students are international students 还有我们美院的同学 and art school students. 他们在一起极有创意 They're quite creative together. 所以他们课程作业是 So their homework assignment 用英文做了一本书画集 was to make a calligraphy and painting collection, 是校园风景图 including pictures of campus landscapes. 大家看这三个同学完成的学习任务 As you can see, the three groups of students 是完全不一样的 had totally different learning tasks. 接下来我做了第二件事情就是 Then, the second thing I did 我了解了他们想做的课题之后 after learning what topics they wanted to learn, 就带着学生到校园拍照片. was take the students to walk around campus and take photos. 拍完之后 After taking photos, 我们请韩国和马来西亚的留学生 we asked the international students from South Korea and Malaysia 来讲一下清华园 to talk about the Tsinghua University's campus. 课程的第三页就是小组活动 The course's third page was group activities. 我请学生在五分钟之内 I asked my students to 画出你最喜欢的清华一景 paint their favorite landscape in Tsinghua University. 然后再请同学聊一下 Then I asked the students to talk about 在清华他们已经掌握的东西 what they had learned in Tsinghua University. 比如说在哪里读书比较好 For example, what places are suitable for reading books? 怎么约网络自习室 How do they book online study rooms? 到图书馆怎么来take notes How do they take notes in the library? 比如说跟老师约研讨室之类的 How do they book seminar rooms from their teachers? 这些观点以前我听都没有听说过 I had never heard about those things before. 我也不知道清华有这样的去处 I had no idea there were these kinds of places in Tsinghua University either. 接下来我让学生来挑选话题 Then, I let my students pick topics, 每个组挑一个 one per group. 这是他们挑选完告诉我的 This is what they told me after they picked. 那我备课时候还做到了什么呢 So what else do I do when preparing for lessons? 老师准备的就是 As for my preparation as a teacher, 一本书一篇文章和一篇学术论文 I have a book, an article and an academic paper. 不像有些名人推荐教材 Unlike some famous figures who recommend textbooks, 我是把网址给他 I give my students websites 而不是规定一本教材学生必读 instead of requiring them to read a certain textbook. 这样的话学生感受到更多的自由 In this way, students can enjoy more freedom 和对他自己的尊重 and respect for themselves, 和他们挑选自己喜欢的文章喜欢的书 and also enjoy showing their classmates 在给同学呈现的时候那种快乐 the articles and books they like. 接下来在我的教室里边 In my classroom, 我不太希望学生用电脑自己玩游戏 I don't particularly want my students playing games on their computers. 但是为了避免他们玩游戏 So, to prevent them from playing games, 我就把网址给他让他们自己去查 I gave each of them a website for them to go check by themselves. 查完之后听 After checking their respective websites, they then listened. 听完之后来告诉我们 After listening to the audio, they told us 在国外大学生活是什么样的 what it was like living in an overseas university campus. 在小组呈现的过程中 During the group presentations, 他们必须用学术词汇 they were required to use academic terms. 就比如我现在给大家展现的这张PPT Take this PowerPoint slide I'm showing you right now as an example. 这节课我们发现 In this class, we discovered 小组活动中出现了一个亮点 a highlight in the group activities. 有一个老同学说 An old student said, 我太爱唱歌了 "I love singing so much. 我给大家讲讲歌剧和音乐剧的区别吧 Let me talk about the differences between operas and musicals." 这个是慕课学习内容里面没有的 That's not a part of our MOOC. 也是学生自己找到知识点 It was that student who found this knowledge point. 他准备完这个小的讲座 After preparing for his short speech 也就五分钟的课题之后 on a five-minute topic, 他还到每个组里头去跟别人交流 he went to communicate with the other groups. 最后我想我们可以做这个活动 To sum up, I thought it'd be nice to carry out an activity: 就是请学生在课外 asking the students to take photos 找到外国留学生拍照片 of foreign students after class. 他们能够主动跟别人打招呼 If they could actively greet other people, 跟别人介绍自己的校园 and tell them about their campus 跟别人介绍自己的校园生活 and campus life, 那么这个课程作业就完成了 their homework would be complete. 好 大家看一看我的一节课 Alright. As you can see, for one of my classes, 从备课是备学生到找资料 from lesson preparation - collecting students' learning statuses, finding out information - 整个过程不超过15页 the whole process requires less than 15 pages. 在这样一个短短环节里边 In such a short section, 融进了比教材比慕课多得多的内容 there's much more content than in textbooks or MOOCs. 回顾过去四年来 For the past four years, 我从课程的运营课程建设到教学实践 I've created and managed courses, carried out teaching activities, 包括混合式教学教材的编写 compiled blended learning textbooks, 到申请国家精品课程 and applied for the national excellence course. 这几步一步步走来 During these endeavors, 我觉得我做了几件事情 I think I've done several things right. 第一个就是在课程运营的时候 First, while operating my courses, 我不仅给学生记本子 I not only make notes for students, 还做了一个现在有1万人参加的 but operate a WeChat subscription account, 微信订阅号 which now has 10,000 followers. 在课程建设里面我注意到 When creating courses, I noticed that 第一门听说课是适合初中生的 the first course, listening and speaking, is suitable for junior high school students. 第二门可以说是适合高中生的 The second course is suitable for high school students. 第三门是适合大学生的课程 The third course is suitable for university students. 这三门系列课程的建设 When creating the three-course series, 也是融入了我过去30年 I make use of my 30 years of experience 在清华教学的经验和教学的实践 and teaching at Tsinghua University. 在过去四年的教学实践里面 During the teaching activities over the past four years, 我们有经验也有教训 we have gained experience and learned a lot of lessons. 目前已经完成了一本混合式教材的编写 Now I've completed compiling a blended textbook. 另外两本今年暑期 Another two books will be published 也会在机械工业出版社出版 by the China Machine Press this summer. 那最后我们有一门课 In the end, one of our courses 已经得了国家精品课程 was awarded with the title: national excellence course. 希望在未来的两年里面 I hope within next two years, 另外两门课也能得到精品课程的称号 the other two courses will be awarded the title of national excellence course as well. 即便没有课程 Teachers and students, 各位老师各位同学 even if there are no courses, 我在这里给大家奉献一下 I'd like to make a contribution here. 生活英语听说的雨课件是可以下载的 The Rain courseware of "Conversational English Skills: Oral Communication for EFL Learners" can be downloaded. 在雨课件里面我给大家充分展示了 In the Rain courseware, I thoroughly show you 如何使慕课和线下教材不是两层皮儿 how to combine MOOCs and offline textbooks effectively 而是有机的结合 instead of just putting them together. 希望我的雨课件和我今天的分享 I hope my Rain Classroom courseware and what I've shared today 可以给大家带来帮助 [Could help you in the future ]Could help you in the future 谢谢 Thank you.
