We've all heard about organisations that get their strategy right, but fail. That's because implementing strategy relies on people. And too few organisations really know their people. Whether you're a large, or a small company, this is key to success. Having the right strategy desn't work if individuals aren't motivated. If teams are disbanding, if there's conflict and hostility. If you know your people, you can create meaningful work. You can make the most of diversity and you can harness the power of teams. And improve your productivity, your efficiency, job satisfaction and the overall performance of your organization. Over the next six weeks, you will learn about important aspects of work that are critical for you as a leader. We look at individual differences and diversity, teamwork, conflict, and motivation. The videos in each week will be just the starting point for you to investigate these fascinating ideas. In many of the videos I'll ask you to think about your own experiences or to challenge yourself to apply what we have learned. You will gain a deeper understanding by working through the readings and the questions that prompt you to apply and extend your learning. You learned through multiple experiences, not just your own. None of the topics are new to you, they're central to everyone's experience at work. But what will be new is the way we look at these aspects of work. Your approach to conflict, to motivation, to teams and to the people you work with, will be transformed because you will learn different ways of thinking. A different mindset right from the outset. I want you to approach your learning here and indeed everything you do that is related to work, with a growth mindset. I'm certain that if you approach this course and your work with a growth mindset, you will better know your people. And you will also be better able to confidently and capably lead your people.
