[MUSIC] In this class, we will draw our life graph. A life graph indicates the important moments in your life. Through the graph, you will know what kind of events occurred during your life, how you viewed them and how you responded to important moments. At the same time, you will know what you think is important in life, and the criteria for life satisfaction. We will view samples to understand the purpose of the exercise before drawing our own graphs. This is a middle school student graph. His early childhood was happy, but suddenly the graph drops because of the death of pet gold fish at seven years old. School was fun but then a pet lizard died at 13 years old. Now the student is happy again with his family and other pets. This is another sample. This girl seems to be happy all the time. She enjoyed her childhood because she was discovering new things in the world. Her graph drops around age eight because she had to get up only in the morning for elementary school. She wanted to play with her friend, but she had to study at school. When she was 14, her best friend moved to another school. She seems to have a happy life in kindergarten with a good friend. Enjoyed the ice skating with her first boyfriend in elementary school at ten years old. She loved her teacher and her mother, and at 13 years old, she told the boy she liked him but was refused. At 14, she was assigned to a different class and separated from her close friend. Significant emotional changes. She traveled to Germany, Austria, Czech Republic. Scenery was beautiful in Hungary. The boys at school made fun of her. Later they were assigned to a different school, but still, the first year, middle school was hard. You can clearly see the peak and the lowest points of the graph. Here is the graph of a person in mid-20s. Overall, it is not bad. High points include: New bag after finishing one at piano school, New room at home, and the first trip with friends in middle school. Peaks were, after starting college, not having to study as hard, and passing, the teachers' examination. Low points are waiting for mother outside in the rain, when her mother was not at home. death of grandmother, and quarrel with best friends. This is another adult graph. People ages 10, he or she could have everything he or she wanted. Pet, food, diet, good grade, didn't get into the first choice university, successful at work, death in family. After starting self-reflection and mind subtraction he maintained his top of satisfaction. There were no special big events. There are several graph drawn by various types of people, adolescents, adults and people after they practiced subtraction of mind. People have a different experiences and thoughts and memories. Isn't it interesting that the long journey of life can be drawn on this one graph. You may have many memories but, let's draw the curve of your life based on the high and the low points. This exercise can show how satisfied you are with your life. Now, you can draw your own life graph. If you click on the link button. Go to test, you can start. Please fill out the name, email, and age. You can see this graph. You can check the radio button to set the degree of satisfaction for each period. If you check the highest or lowest number in those periods, it will be easy to see the graph. If you touch the button, you will get your life graph soon. What happened to you at the peak and lowest points at each period? How do you feel now looking at the points. At the peak position you will smile, at the lowest, painful memories will cause a different reaction. Even the same situation, the score will be different depending on the person. Even at the peak position, the response will be different according to the individual. When the life graph goes down, some can handle the situation well, while others are unprepared. Satisfaction with life shown on the graph is subjective and unique to each individual. This graph cannot be objective even in the same situation. To enhance the quality of life, it is necessary to control your reactions to different situations and learn to manage your mind. In other words, satisfaction with life depends on how you see the world and the state of your mind. In the graph, dissatisfaction is due to the gap between what you want and the current status. Through self reflection, you can eliminate the gap between your current state and what you want. It is the same principle of balls in the lotto box. Pull out your elements of dissatisfaction one by one inside you, as you pull out the balls one by one in the lotto box. Then possibility of dissatisfaction decrease drastically. And you will be at the top of the satisfaction. This is my life graph. The high school days were not too bad. Almost peaked around 30. Then it went down and down to the bottom. And now it has recovered to the level of my younger days. It goes to the top of the satisfaction. What happens at the bottom? How can I recover? After self-reflection and the subtracting thought of memories in the past life, the degree of satisfaction drastically increases. Everything goes well also after the subtraction. And my response to people and the event becomes very flexible. Your response to difficulty and harder times depends on your inner strength. Have you heard of resilience? Resilience engineering is to learn how to respond to the irregular and/or unexpected events. Resilience is the ability of the mind to overcome various difficulties and failures. Each material has different elasticity and the same principle applies to people's elasticity. People with strong resilience who hit rock bottom can rebound to even higher positions. Successful individuals or organizations with sustainable growth have all overcome difficulties and failures at one point. You can be happy or unhappy, depending on how you choose to look at unfortunate events and the difficulties. Fostering a habit of positive thinking will remarkably improve your resilience. Resilience is the power to rebound from the bottom, the mind muscle that enables you to recover from your lowest point. You can be at high or low point. When at high point, you can leap higher. When at a low point, you can return to or exceed your Normal state. Through self-reflection, you can understand yourself better and improve your resilience by subtracting the negative thinking and allowing you to live the life you want. Taking this self reflection course will be very beneficial. Now, you have drawn your life graph. What is the criteria for your satisfaction with life? Your happiness? How other people evaluate you? Social status? Is your satisfaction based on the opinions of people around you? Life is full of events we can not predict. Many times, we are most impacted because of the people around us. You have lived your life thus far. And you will live your life hereafter. Next class, we will talk about self-leadership.
