[MUSIC] Welcome to lesson two. As promised, today we're gonna talk about representing the professional athlete at that interface between the preprofessional years and the professional years. We're gonna welcome some experts with whom I've worked for many years. Initially, we'll talk about the fiduciary duty of the agent. We'll talk about agent misconduct. We'll talk about some of the scandals we referenced in lesson one as it relates to agents violating the rules that otherwise obtain. How do you go about negotiating and drafting a representation agreement? We'll have a PowerPoint slide that'll guide you through the best practices for that. We'll ask you to play act it, too. Whether you're on the athlete's side, the attorney for the athlete, or the attorney for the agent, this is gonna be an important aspect of what clauses go in and what clauses don't go in, and why. How long a representation agreement do you have? How encyclopedic is it? Or is it a handshake? This will lead us to how does the now a professional athlete guide himself, with his help of his agent, through the collective bargaining agreements of each of the three major leagues? We're gonna focus on that. We're gonna focus on now, on day one, a professional baseball player. We'll welcome Jay Reisinger. How does that professional baseball player get through and including to his free agency years. We'll then explore the entire life of an agent who works in this area. We welcome Andy Simms in that regard. It's a wonderful exchange that we have. He'll talk about the characteristics of the potential clients that he likes to represent in the NFL context. We'll talk about all sorts of guaranteed versus non-guaranteed agreements. And at the end we'll ask Andy, how do you develop your brand, both as an athlete manager agent. And how do you help the athlete develop his or her brand as you take him through each of the stages of his professional career, and his post retirement years? At the end, we'll have a wrap up. We'll have a few posts that I think you'll find interesting. We'll wanna hear from you, what you have to say about representing a professional athlete at the early stages of his career, the representation agreement itself. So, thanks for your attention as we go through lesson two with you. And I hope you'll enjoy it. And we look forward to hearing your answers to our questions and our posts. [MUSIC]
