[MUSIC] So I like to eat. >> Me too. >> Then she starts talking about sustainable hamburgers. >> Yeah, sustainable hamburgers. It's an oxymoron. >> In level of detail, so can you explain that to me, a sustainable hamburger? >> Yeah, so one of the things, again we're still on the boundaries of our systems, right? And so the space boundaries and then the time boundaries but then also the level of detail, right, because if we're trying to analyze a system, you can try to include all the details. But by necessity if you're including too many details, you might lose track of the ones that are more important. So Bent-Legged Angel's a soccer player. Everyone should know about Garrincha from Brazil. And a lot of people, he's like the kind of the hipster choice for best player ever, because he's not really the best player ever, in Pele's the more famous player from Brazil, rightly so. But Garrincha was pretty good in his own right. He scored a lot of goals and did a lot of amazing things. But the Bent-Legged Angel part is he was born with one leg shorter than the other. And so Brazil, they would do a lot of tests to see, okay, which players are good for the national team. One of the tests they did was kind of psychological test. And Garrincha and Pele actually didn't score very well on the psychological test. So that's an example of getting into too much details like, do you really need a psychological test? It's soccer, put the person on the field if they're doing well. [LAUGH] They have the right psychology for soccer. So it's like there's something wrong with your test, not there's something wrong with the people. So they got into too much level of detail. And there's a World Cup where Pele and Garrincha were left on the bench for the first two games. And then they eventually put them on the field for the third game. Brazil never lost a game where Garrincha and Pele both played. So that's the level of detail example from soccer. The sustainable hamburgers, I hate to inform you that there's no such thing as the sustainable hamburger. >> [LAUGH] That's what I was here for. >> So that's what the level of detail is, right? It's like you can do these really, then there's better hamburgers than others. But the bottom line is the hamburger, right? It's like if you really want sustainable food system, eat what the cow is eating.
