Before we even pick up the violin, we need to make sure that the student has good standing posture and balance. We are going to start with our base, our foundation which is the feet. So let's put our feet together. Let's make a letter V and take a step. Okay, good. Now let's imagine that we are a baseball player, so Minalie, turn to your side. Good. So make sure you're nice and balanced and let's take our bat, bend our knees a little bit and we're going to do a nice swing with follow-through. Okay? Ready? Good. Excellent. So let's turn back and let's rock side to side, bend our knees a little bit. Good. Do you feel nice and balanced? Excellent. We also want to make sure that the student is not standing with a sway back. So can you put your hand on your back and one on your belly? Be sure that you're not arched, that your belly is not out forward. So bring the belly back in, the hips are under. That's good. Bend your knees. Swing your arms. Great. We want to make sure that our spine is straight and that our posture is good. Let's take a nice deep breath and let's raise our shoulders up to our ears. Pull them straight back and when you let out your breath, drop your shoulder blades down your back, bring your shoulders in and keep your chest up. That's it. Good. Imagine you have a string here. So we never want to be collapsed, but up. Good. Now breathe and swing your arms. Okay, now we're going to get really loose and roll down and touch our toes. Are you ready? Yes. Okay good. Here we go. Good. Let your arms hang. Can you shake your head now?Shake your head, yes. Let's go to the right. Move to the left. Back to center. Good. Swing your arms. Let your head go. Now roll up one vertebrae at a time, letting all of your head and your hands hang down. Now bring your shoulders up, back and down. Let's keep our body forward as if we're walking down the street. Let's turn our head to the right, turn our head to the left. Look straight ahead. Look up to the sky, look down at your toes. Look straight ahead. Shake your head now. Shake your head. Yeah, that's good. Swing your arms a little bit and breathe. Good. Okay, so now we're going to hold our imaginary violin. So let's put our arms straight forward and we're going to go out to the side and then we're going to swing them down and hold our violin. Good. And then just bounce, make sure you're balanced. Good. And we'll check to make sure we're on the right plane and just open back up. Good. Great. I think you're ready to play. Excellent.
