You might want to change your story into a PDF. Let's have your stories straight with minimal illustrations and graphics and doesn't have any moving parts, videos or drop-down boxes. It's a fixed layout flat document that people can't change, unless they change it back to a document. They can do this if they have editing software, such as Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Capture. A PDF document is safe to share and copy. You should be able to change a story document into a PDF on a word processing program on your computer. You can then send it to your customer via email or enable people to download it from your website or blog. However, this format can easily be shared and people can get it for free, instead of paying for it. Which means, you don't make any money. There is nothing you can do to stop people from doing this. So you sell your PDF, knowing you are taking a risk. Another option is to put your story on to your blog or website so that people can read them on the computer or another device, such as a mobile phone. If you're giving your stories away, readers can download them for free or you can charge your readers a fee. The customer receives your writing as a PDF document. Some websites, such as FanFiction, Storybird and Figment allow authors to upload their stories. Then when readers download the stories and read them, they can give feedback. Authors keep their copyright for their stories and can remove them from the websites anytime if they want to. For some sites, stories can be entered into contests, where there are prizes to win. You can also upload your stories on to websites that will add an audio, or sound and music. Audio books are stories read aloud and recorded on to a device. The reader listens to the story on their phone or device. Some companies add sound effects and music to stories. While the reader reads the story, they listen to music or sounds like animal noises, someone walking or knocking on a door and these are woven into the story. It can make spooky stories even scarier, and helps children who are audio learners engage with the story. Digital books are sold anywhere from as little as $0.99 to the same price as a paperback book, the average price is under $10. However, the books can be pirated. Pirates download the digital books, then put it on a website of their own and give it away free or sell it. If you write to them and ask them to take it down, they will usually do it. Some people give away their stories for free. Some people give away eBooks, hoping they'll build up a base of following. This here has had an unfortunate consequence for authors resulting in people wanting eBooks for free or for a very cheap price all the time. For most people, it's not profitable yet. Your stories can be published by digital experts or digital publishing companies or you can format them yourself and self-publish them. When digital books first came out, people said it would make the printed book go out of fashion, but printed and digital books are still very popular. People realize there are times when it's easier to read a digital book, like when away on holiday, because they can read them on a digital device or phone. They can also store their digital books to read whenever they have to wait for something, like a bus or plane, but people still enjoy the smell and feel of a book. It has benefits, such as they don't have to turn it off when in a plane. They can share printed books with friends and they don't have to worry about the battery going flat on a device that stores digital books.
