Course Overview: In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity and identify the concepts required to recognize and potentially mitigate attacks against enterprise networks as well as mission critical infrastructure. Course 1 of 5 in the Palo Alto Networks Security Operating Platform Cybersecurity Specialization. Course Structure – 7 Modules Each module has the following components: Reading, e-learning, Discussion, and Assessment. E-learning components either direct students to online resources or deliver audio transcriptions of the module reading component. Assessments are quizzes that are designed as learning activities, and allow students two attempts for each quiz. At the end of the course there is a hands-on lab activity. Supporting Materials The CyberSecurity Survival Guide is a downloadable pdf file that presents information included in both the Foundation and Gateway classes as well as glossary ‘key’ terms and figures.   • You will be qualified for an entry level position in cybersecurity, and also have hands-on practical experience using the PAN Next Generation firewall.

  • To provide a hands-on experience with the Palo Alto Networks Next Generation Firewall, the Gateway and Essentials courses utilize a cloud based virtual lab component. The labs fees of $24.95 per month is paid directly to Network Development Group (NDG) and is not included as part of the Coursera subscription. Please refer to the “LAB SETUP START HERE: Connecting to the NDG platform and performing labs” informational resource found in the Course Information area of the Gateway and Essentials courses for specific details on enrollment and payment for NDG labs

  • Projects that utilize the NDG lab environment are required assignments in the Gateway and Essentials Courses. You will be able to review the course readings, videos, material and assessments but you will not be able to successfully complete the course without access to the NDG lab environment.
