Anca Maria Podpiera is a Consultant with the World Bank Institute and the Financial and Private Sector Development, Europe and Central Asia. Recently, she was a Research Analyst for the World Development Report 2014, Risk and Opportunity: Managing Risk for Development. Previously, as a consultant for the Financial and Private Sector Development, Europe and Central Asia she produced research on institutional structures of financial sector supervision, macroprudential stress-testing practices, and financial consumer protection. Prior to joining the World Bank, Anca was an Economist for the Czech National Bank. Her research agenda focused on monetary policy transmission mechanism, competition, and efficiency of the banking sector. She holds a PhD in Economics from the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education, Prague, Czech Republic.
