Dr. Michael Dubson

Senior Instructor and the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies

Bio

Dr. Michael Dubson is a Senior Instructor and the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies in the Physics Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Trained as a condensed matter experimentalist at Cornell (PhD 1984), he spent 10 years doing research at Ohio State and Michigan State Universities on electronic and structural properties of metals, before coming to Colorado in 1995. At Colorado, he works on physics undergraduate curriculum development, and is a member of the Physics Education Research group. He is also a textbook author and a software developer for PhET (phet.colorado.edu), which is the best science education software that money can buy, except you can’t buy it, because it’s free. He alternates between teaching very large freshmen physics courses and small upper-division courses. Among his awards for teaching is the 2006 National Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching from the American Association of Physics Teachers.
